In the beginning of the episode, we get our first appearance of Peanut after Harvey hires him as his desk clerk. Peanut's first case on the job is that for the freedom of Shaggy and Scooby Doo.
They were both pulled over by a state trooper en route to solve another
mystery about a spooky monster scaring people at the old barn. Then, because
of their natural gigglish nature, they are arrested on the grounds of
narcotics intoxication. Harvey agrees to defend them, as Spyro, a colorful
thespian clown lawyer, is prosecuting for the state in front of Judge
Mightor.
In most unusual fashion, Spyro presents his case in "As You Smok't It:
A Play in Three Acts." As defense and prosecution go back and forth
at each other, the other members of the Scooby gang find and present the
spooky monster that's been scaring people at the old barn. It turns out
to be Old Man Backoff all along, trying to keep crazy kids away from his
mysterious and illegal crops.
As an added note, this episode features a live action "dream" sequence featuring Harvey and a can of Tab prancing together on the beach. Ha ha! Product placement.
